I wonder if anyone can shed some light on HDCP 2.2

I've run into this problem when streaming on Amazon:

HD Video Unavailable
Your video will play in Standard Definition because your computer hardware, HDMI cables, and display must all meet content protection (HDCP) requirements for HD video.
I did a search around to check my hardware. It's actually not super clear on manufacturer's websites if their hardware is HDCP 2.2 compliant - RX Vega as an example.

As a test, I decided to fire up Parallels and run Windows under OsX. Unbelievably, Amazon is now happy to play HD in Windows as a virtual machine.

So I then tried various browsers under OsX - chrome, safari, opera and firefox. None of these will play HD, with Amazon presenting the same explanation above.

If anybody can shed some light on this - it would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt it's an HDCP issue. I can play Amazon videos fine with my system which has a Vega 56 (BIOS flashed to Vega 64).

It's most likely some kind of configuration issue in your EFI.

Thanks Chef
So no problems on your end with HD on Amazon?

Any suggestions on what to start on with my EFI?

Maybe an SSDT for the Vega?

I had hoped that Lilu and WhateverGreen would do the trick.

Many thanks

I've never hacked an HEDT system before so I know nothing about how they work...

The only suggestion I can give is to try an iMac Pro or Mac Pro system definition. Also, I never needed any SSDT for my Vega. Yes, I also have Lilu and WhateverGreen.

Hey @pastrychef Do you get the HD symbol at the bottom of the player and which browser do you use?

99% of the time, I use Safari.

This is what I see:

Great film - sorry about the interrogation. That is definitely HD!

Strange - Apple TV(+) seems to be fine on my system.

@pastrychef I'm tempted to do a build based around your 9900

Apple TV+ also works fine for me.

I love my Z370 and Z390 builds. They've been rock solid but, personally, I wouldn't put any money in to an Intel system at this point if macOS is what you're after...
