My Z170X-UD5-TH only has HDMI for video. I have a 1440p monitor, but the monitor control panel doesn't 'see' this resolution. I can force it with switchresx, but that doesn't look very good...

Any ideas? My old Z68XP/AMD6870 connected via DVI-D is perfectly capable of 1440p with calibrated color and all...

Hi Florian,

Thanks for your reply. I already had a quick look at the Pixel Clock Patch. Is this different from what switchresx does? Switchresx works, but looks awful/blurry even after calibration.

Yes it is, it'll remove (artificial) limits from Apples drivers.

I'll give it a go myself as soon as I find the time. I'm usually using a dedicated GPU, so I'm not completely sure how the HD 530 in my Skylake rig behaves when hooking it up to my Dell WQHD display.

Just tried your patch:

No higher resolutions available, unfortunately. What am I doing wrong? I didn't boot from a recovery partition, is this possible with a Hack at all?

Fixed by using a cheap passive HDMI -> DVI-D adapter I had lying around. Now I have crisp, colour calibrated 1440p video on my Dell 2711 connected to the Intel HD 530.
The HDMI port on the Dell 2711 is meant for 1080p. Trying to fix the EDID didn't work.
