Hardware installation

Hello guys!!

Yesterday I received the parts for my system and i put it together.
I installed Windows 7 to make sure all my hardware is working fine.

Here is my system parts:

GA-P55A-UD3 motherboard
4GB G.Skill DDR3 1.5V
Corsair H50 liquid cooling for the CPU.
OCZ powersuppy 600W.
500GB Samsung 7200 hard drive, had it from old system.
i7 860 2.8GHz CPU.


When i installed Windows 7 and go to system properties

It shows i7 860 2.8Ghz @ 2.00? why not 2.8?

Is there a settings I am missing to enable?

I think you've set something up wrong in the BIOS, check the M.I.T. menu settings.

Actually the only thing I changed in the Bios was the AHCI,

But what should I look for under M.I.T settings?

CPU multiplier and bus speed.

Also, did you upgrade the board to the latest BIOS? As you should do that before you install OS X.

The board came with bios F4 i upgraded it to the latest which is F6.
I am at work now, I will look at the settings when i go home.

Yeah, the settings tend to re-set when you upgrade the BIOS, that's most likely what cause the CPU to run slower.
