hey everyone. im a computer science student, i want to work on mac osx especially to be able to develop for iOS devices as a good programming practice, and perhaps even income one day. as a student i wanna keep the budget reasonable, while making a stable, solid, and fun to work with machine.
after seeing the 2013 january recommendation for customacs, this is the 'core' of the hackintosh im planning to build.

will that be enough in your opinion for my needs? (comfortable with running Xcode and smooth iOS development, quite a few browsing tabs, etc). if not, what would you change?

cpu: i3 3225
board: GA-H77N-WIFI
memory: corsair 2x4g 1600 mhz vengeance
ssd: 128g sandisk

Thanks ahead!

I'd add memory.

Just came off spending a year doing iOS development on a 2009 Macbook Pro 17" Core2Duo w/8 gigs (corporate machine lifecycle is 3 years). At times, the 8 felt a bit thin once you have Xcode, docs, browsers, rails web services et al running to support the app. If you're doing a 'standalone' app contained on the device, you might not have a problem.

One other thing to consider is developing for the new Retina displays. The iOS simulator for a retina device may not fit on a standard HDMI display (and I hate having to scroll my interface).

Luckily, now rocking a MBP Retina loaded w/ i7 2.6GHz hyper-threaded and 16 gigs of RAM. Night and day for development.

Go ahead bro

Zephyer, in my experience, that kind of specs is good enough. Everything runs super fast on my i3-2100 4GB RAM and Crucial m4 SSD 128 GB. I can open enough tabs and programs for iOS Development. At work I'm using the more expensive $799 2011 mac mini which is ok. But my machine feels a lot faster and way more cheaper than the mac mini. Maybe due to SSD.
