Hangs at shut down

Not sure why or when this started happening but the only way I can shut down my hack is to log out (Apple Menu) and then chose shut down from the user log in screen.

When shutting down from the Apple menu the screen just sits at the grey screen with no spinning gear/wheel.

Any ideas?

First real oddity that I've had with this since building it a year ago.

Try repairing permissions on the drive. Works for me if I begin to have shutdown problems.

Thanks for the tip but no change.
She'll reboot fine and shut down after I log out (as mentioned below) only.
