I've had an issue for a few months that is driving me crazy enough I thought I'd ask to see if someone may know what's going on. After Sierra (10.12.6) is fully booted, some items still give me a spinning beach ball for an additional 2-3 minutes (top menu bar, System Preferences, etc). I seem to remember it started happening after replacing the motherboard's WiFi card with an iMac's to get AirDrop working. The WiFi menu bar icon stays disconnected until everything snaps to and then connects up and everything is fine after that.

Wondering if there is a setting in Clover that I need to change to fix this?

Specs on the computer:
  • Gigabyte GA-Z97N-WIFI
  • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB Mini ITX OC Edition
  • Intel Core i7-4790K Devil’s Canyon QC 4.0GHZ LGA 1150
  • Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB
  • iMac 27" A1419 Wi-Fi Bluetooth Card P/N 653-0014 BCM94360CD
  • Adapter BCM94360CD
Thanks!

Take a look at [Guide] Z/H97N-WIFI with Nvidia Graphics using Clover UEFI Hotpatch | tonymacx86.com.

Thank you, great guide. I ended up rebuilding my Clover installation completely with the newest version, used the nvidia config.plist file, the SSDT files (HACK & the generated power management). Everything but the USBinjectall. Its slower to boot now (takes longer during Apple logo, progress bar) which isn't an issue, but the original problem is still there. Volume controls seem to be unresponsive during the hanging, so wondering if its audio related instead of networking...

Attach Screenshot of verbose mode on where it hangs. Attach Clover Folder with Themes removed along with ioreg ZIP attach. [Guide] How to Make a Copy of IOReg | tonymacx86.com

All of that is attached. Looks like in verbose mode, the IntelMausiEthernet kext file is causing the hang. I swapped it out with the AppleIntelE1000e kext and boot up is faster, but hang after boot still happening. Seems like audio is taking the longest to become active. After updating Clover re-used the cloverALC method to fix audio.

Files look fine. Which WIFI Card is it?

WiFi card is the following using an adapter.
  • iMac 27" A1419 Wi-Fi Bluetooth Card P/N 653-0014 BCM94360CD

Its the same card as mine. Note in my testing I had problems with Intel NICs & the BCM94360CD card. Make sure that Wake On Lan (WOL) is disabled in the BIOS and in OS X. Turn off Wake on Bluetooth in System Preferences -> Bluetooth -> Advanced.

Looks like its delaying after boot, even with all of the WoL settings turned off. I'll keep hunting through things… eventually may just start clean to see if its something that was screwed up from before.

Now to fix iMessage from trying to fix this… lol

Id leave iMessage and other Apple Services to when you've sorted your problems out. Attach ioreg. [Guide] How to Make a Copy of IOReg | tonymacx86.com
