Hackintosh slow after being idle for more than 10 minutes

I am having this issue with Macos Sierra on my hackintosh (Gigabyte Z97 x sli and Intel i5 skylake). After leaving it for several minutes it goes to monitor off but I have it configure not to go to sleep or to put hard drives offline. When I get back it starts very slow and freezes for several seconds and it takes about 45 seconds to comeback to normal speed.
