I received DOA ram from newegg 3 weeks ago so I got an RMA and sent it back to newegg to get some replacements. While waiting, I got a 4gb stick from best buy last week (different speed then newegg ones) and went about my business. Last weekend I overclocked successfully and on Monday my replacement ram arrived so I installed the replacement. Needless to say, it's only recognizing the sticks at 2gb each when I'm fact they are 2x4gb sticks. I have tried different slots, combinations, everything. I have even tried using just one stick to see if it would show as a 4gb stick but to my avail, it only showed 2gb. The ram I have are these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220569&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Memory+(Desktop+Memory)-_-Patriot+Memory-_-20220569 and this is my mobo http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B00518M77U/?tag=howt0be-20 but what's bothering me is that Chimera says:
Darwin/ x86 boot v5.0.132 - Chimera v1.8.0 r1394
Build date: 2012-02-24 10:24:20
4013MB memory
And if I'm not mistaken, I thought x86 meant 32 bit but I could be wrong. Bios is set up as 64 bit and windows 7 is also showing only 4gb of ram.
[Edit] I might add that I haven't changed the ram speed in bios and I have 64-bit windows. Thanks.
