My computer was doing fine running on 10.8.6 or .2 (one or the other). My computer asked me to update some stuff. From memory it was regarding a new update for Java, Epson printer, and a few more things. My system has ran stable since I built it around January. When I boot up this is what I'm dealt with: http://i.imgur.com/FUZHe2l.jpg
Specs: I7-3770k Gigabyte GA-77X-U5D TH Corsair Vengeance Ram 32gb Gt 640 graphics card Samsung 840 SSD as system drive (2) Samsung F3's as work drives

This is the computer I work off of so I'm very worried..

This not an uncommon problem when someone accidentally upgrades his OS via the App Store. You can only safely upgrade software if you know your OS is up-to-date.

I'd suggest a Time Machine Restore from just before you tried to upgrade.

Put in your USB Boot stick and boot to the install page. Go up to the Menu Bar and open up Disk Utility. The video will show you how to restore your system to what it was before.

Then, download the Combo upgrade file from Apple.com and update any items.

Thank you for getting back to me Urban. Unfortunately I have no Time Machine backup, but fortunately the ssd I installed on is my systems drive and contains no sensitive data, only programs and OS.

When I try to get to the install page, I'm usually brought back to the white apple logo with the black text. Ill call it Apples White Screen for ease. I have Mountain Lion installed on the HP flashdrive, and here are the options I have to boot from through my bios: http://i.imgur.com/be5KLPV.jpg

If I try to boot from UEFI: Samsung 840, the system tries loading up, and from there I'm brought to the different boot options: http://i.imgur.com/SKbp7VE.jpg

Now UEFI: USB Hard Drive

  • System goes to the Apple White Screen.
  • Installer takes me to the same screen with the restart dialog.
HP v125w 1638 at the bottom of the list:

  • System is apple white screen.
  • Installer again is the grey screen with restart dialog.

Quick little update:

After removing my graphics card from the motherboard, The USB drive is somewhat bootable when having it set as the automatic boot drive from the BIOS. It gets to the white screen, and it instead of a bunch of text, it hangs with the loading icon spinning, which stops very shortly as well. Going to the boot drive independently brings up the grey screen with the restart dialog.
