Hi,

I'm looking for a Hackintosh setup which will be used for Photoshop mostly, but should also run games decently sometimes (focus clearly on Photoshop). I have a budget of about 1200€ incl monitor (suggestions for a monitor are very welcome!) - can be, if useful, a total of 1250€. And it should be silent-ish (at least not too noisy). Do you see any weaknesses in this build for a hackintosh yosemite?

CPU 330€ i7 4790k http://geizhals.at/intel-core-i7-4790k-cm8064601560016-cm8064601710501-a1119924.html
GPU 190€ KFA² GeForce GTX 960, 2GB GDDR5 http://geizhals.at/kfa-geforce-gtx-960-96nph8dnd7uz-a1220643.html
MB 121€ Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H http://geizhals.at/gigabyte-ga-z97x-ud3h-a1107914.html
RAM 140€ Crucial Ballistix Tactical DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR3-1866 http://geizhals.at/crucial-ballistix-tactical-dimm-kit-16gb-blt2cp8g3d1869dt1tx0eu-a1037301.html

HDD 75€ Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB http://geizhals.at/seagate-barracuda-7200-14-2tb-st2000dm001-a686483.html
CPU FAN 54€ be quiet! Dark Rock 3 http://geizhals.at/be-quiet-dark-rock-3-bk018-a1054331.html
CASE 83€ Fractal Design Define R4 http://geizhals.at/fractal-design-d...t-sichtfenster-fd-ca-def-r4-ti-w-a860219.html
PS 56€ be quiet! Pure Power L8 500W http://geizhals.at/be-quiet-pure-power-l8-500w-atx-2-4-bn223-a960675.html

Thanks a lot for your help!

A good choice for photoshop and gaming would be the Eizo FS2434 which will give you
accurate color for photo work and a sub 5 ms response time for no gaming lag. The
price is very reasonable for the quality you get.

Thanks for your responses. Didn't think that Eizo monitors were that good for picture editing, but it seems, as both of you are suggesting one, I'll look into them. Thanks!

For the build itself, do you see any weak points for a Hackintosh? For example, I haven't found any information to the GPU manufacturer KFA² yet regarding building a Hackintosh (the card is about 10-50€ cheaper than from other manufacturers).

Hey, I am also planning to build a Hackintosh for Photoshop mainly, letting it also work with Video processing (Adobe Premiere).

I was wondering what helped you to choose this motherboard, as I have no idea which motherboard I should use, some of them are really expensive but as I never did that before, I don't understand why. Can you give some advice on it?

It shows on newegg that there is never version of the motherboard you've chosen, why not going for this one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128716

I can see this tread is pretty old. Can you tell if you've already built it up and how does it work?

Hi Ruediger,

Your Build seems good for me.. Got myself a Mackintosh Running wit I5 4690k and GTX 780 its very stable.
But i don´t Know 500W PSU is enough for that build.. The Store Told me with the 780 to go with at Least 650W. Your Card will not use that much Power as an 780 because it´s a newer one. But i Would go with 650W..

Best Regards :)

Both the Z97X-UD3H and UD5H are great choices for a photo or video editing build if you
are going with an 1150 system. The one you've listed is not a newer version of either of these.
It's a gaming motherboard, specifically designed for that, not for a photo editing build.

I'm sorry but your store made a mistake.

According to my calculation, with 360W is more than enough. So 500W is perfect. I get 360W in total burn, with 8 USB ports and 8 fans.

500W is perfect.

hi..

Allright thanks.. Which components you´re using? 360w is pretty impressive. the 780 it self needs 250w under full load, and i have some additional stuff in my pc so. but i forgot he was talking about an 960. i thought he was looking for 970/80.

Sry my bad

Best wishes
