So I just ran through the Mavericks Installation coming from a 10.8.5 installation. I'm now having kernel panics in the AppleHDAController when trying to boot. Below is a picture of the error I'm getting.

This came up after I rebooted from the installer, with the -f option. I also tried the GraphicsEnabler=0 and PCIRootUID=0 and I still get that error. I am however able to get it to boot if I add the -x flag to start it in safe mode.
So in safe mode I then ran the HP Probook Installer, and simply selected the OSX Support Kexts for my version (4540s). I did notice that the option for this one, inside of the installer application, said "Zero KB" even when I checked it. I also installed the latest version of Chameleon.
I then rebooted, however I still can't get into the installation unless I'm in safe mode. I also noticed in safe mode that my sound isn't working, so I don't know if that means something else failed.
Anyone have any idea how I can fix this or what I am doing wrong?
And on another note, this drive has Windows installed on it as well, and even though I have Chameleon installed, it always boots up Windows first and I don't get the boot loader that lets me select what to boot up. I'm not sure how to fix that either.
