The U310 has a locked MSR, although there is a patched BIOS available that unlocks it (as well as removing the whitelist).
do you by chance recall where that unlocked/patched bios is? I'm thinking about upgrading to the uefi bios and switching over to clover on my u310

Hey I need some advice. I have spent hours trying to get the install to work. I finally used this patch properly and I got through the early reboot problem. However when I run the setup and the White screen pops up with the grey apple symbol on the progress bar, the "pre-install" freezes after the progress bar reaches half way.

I cannot get past this. I left my computer on for 8 hours and it was still in the same position. I tried using - x, -f flags as well as maxmem=8192.

i am running an Acer aspire s7-392.

any ideas?

Off-topic... not related to XCPM early reboot. But try removing /Extra/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext. Any further questions should be addressed on the appropriate desktop forum.

I have attempted to follow your guide to correct the issue (I am running a haswell processor), but unable to find the directory you mention on my bootable usb drive. I created the bootable usb via standard instructions using terminal, and the authentic installer from the apple app store.

From what I understand, there should be a kernel folder located in the system/library/, but I have been unable to find this folder (after revealing hidden folders, of course.) All I see on my drive is: system/library/caches and coreservices.

I am wondering if you have any thoughts on the issue.

Using this command line, found on this website and a few others:

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/USB --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app --no interaction
