It means you're using the wrong version of iasl. Refer to post #1 for the link to the correct version.

i downloaded iasl from here: https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/acpica/downloads

it was downloaded to my Downloads folder, i copied it to Users/tj3000 folder.

i have 1 DSDT file and 13 SSDT files, which i put to Desktop/acpiwork folder, added .aml extension to all.

i open terminal, cd Desktop/acpiwork, iasl -da -dl *.aml

still getting

Last login: Mon Jan 4 18:37:20 on ttys000
xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx:~ tj3000$ cd Desktop/acpiwork
xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx:acpiwork tj3000$ iasl -da -dl *.aml
Unknown option: -dl

edit: ok i deleted dsdteditor from downloads folder, now i only have iasl copy 3 times

search for iasl shows:

iasl - tj3000

iasl - Downloads

iasl - acpiwork

still having the same error

(OS X El Capitan 10.11.2 on Asus X751L laptop)

That is not in your path. Guide instructions are clear it should be copied to /usr/bin.

yes, may bad, it was hidden, had to use Go to Finder to open it and put iasl there, but still no success; i used iasl -d *.aml which worked, but don't know if its ok.

Type 'which iasl' to find out where your copy of iasl is loading from.
