@ammulder

Important: Edit config.plist on the EFI partition of the installer thumb drive to change USB/FixOwnership from <false/> to <true/> or else it will hang when booting from the installer thumb drive

I have to THANK YOU for your tip on 'FixOwnership' on the USB. I found your post easily when searching and saved me immeasurable heartache I am sure!!! My build is now complete, dual boots, and seems SOLID! Again, thank YOU!

i tried to follow this guide.
i created a bootable USB thumbdrive.
But i get stuck at: waiting for root device?

i already use the PCI settings for usb drive with fix usb ownership.

i tried in ALL USB ports and i tried two different USB thumb drives (one is USB3 and the other one is USB2)
so i hope its something with wrong settings in bios (though i think i did not miss a setting...)
those are my settings in the bios:

i am not sure if the root device means the SSD is not found or the stick.

"Still waiting for root device".
When booting from USB means that there is a problem finding a valid System folder to start up from on your USB flash drive.
This is usually because the flash drive is in a USB3 port.
If this is the case move it to a USB2 port, if it is already in a USB2 port move it to another and try again.
Repeat until you have tried all USB ports.
Use a USB2 flash drive.
If it still doesn't work you could try another flash drive.
You might also try enabling Legacy on your USB3 ports in your BIOS settings.
Try connecting your USB flash drive using a USB2 hub.
Ensure that Fast Boot is not enabled in your BIOS settings.
May require USBInjectAll.kext in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/.
May need PMHeart’s patch to remove XHCI USB Port Limit in config.plist.
macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 requires a new USB Port Limit patch.

The problem may also occur when your USB controllers are unsupported, if this is the case you should add the appropriate kext to /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/ or try GenericUSBXHCI.kext.

i tried all things you list here, but still no luck.
i doubt the usb controllers are unsupported because others like
jthomasolsen get this board up and running...

@jthomasolsen could you post your settings and clover settings?
