I have formatted the SSD drive and clover only shows the usb as the only bootable disk.

As you should expect.
You won't have a bootable target on the SSD until you run the macOS installer.

From where did you download macOS?
On what hardware did you create your USB installer?
What version?

I downloaded macOS Sierra from a 2014 MBPR running Sierra 10.12.6
I used a 2011 MBP running Sierra 10.12.6
The version I am attempting to install is Sierra 10.12.6

Not sure if I am able to run those terminal commands as I am unable to fully boot into the desktop.
Pretty much the installer looks like it is unable to complete, because with about 6 seconds left on the installer the laptop shuts off completely. When I reboot into Clover and select "Boot OS X Install from install_osx" it takes me back to the initial setup with the language select, and it does not continue the setup into phase 2. Thanks in advance.
