[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

Yeah I'm seeing a few boards like this in the wild. It would appear that some XPS 13s are coming to market with the 2133MHz modules instead of the 1867 ones.

Could anyone who has the 2133MHz modules report the following:

1) CPU Config - i7 or i5 (and 7th or 8th gen)
2) Memory Config - Manufacturer (8GB or 16GB)
3) XMP profile enabled or not

It could well just be a SPD# setting that's required; if that's the case I'm currently in discussions with the developer of a well-known (windows) software that adjusts memory timing to add support for LPDDR3 chipsets.

3) No, Current Timing (tCAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS): 16-20-20-45

New BIOS out - 2.3.1. This time, I can't upgrade for some reason. When applying the update, on reboot I get 'Firmware update error, rebooting...' and back to 2.2.1 I go.

Not sure if it is due to the IFR variables I've applied, or something Dell has done.

BIOS Guard Support is the cause as the roms come in that format

setup_var 0xF56 -> 01

Good spot. Yes resetting 0xF56 to 01 solved the issue.

This opens up an interesting possibility. I have just created a modded BIOS which I have been reluctant to flash because of BootGuard. However 0xF56 clearly disables bootguard. Would setting f56 to 1, flashing the mod and then setting it to 0 solve the problem I wonder...

Hi everyone!
I'm new to the forum and I found this awesome guide! Otherwise, I have some doubt I would like to clear before start formatting ecc..
Is this guide valid for the last version of High Sierra? Is valid also for the latest Dell's Bios Update 2.3.1? Being an Engineering student I need my 9360 to be as more reliable as possible so it's important to me that will be stable and with a good battery life to cover the university day.

Perhaps, the guide refers to a problem related to the hibernation: has it been resolved? There are some other?

I tried to read all of this thread but I can assure that it becomes a little bit hard when there are 152 pages!
Waiting for your answers, thank you all!

3) No

@jkbuha,

I've been trying to get High Sierra to boot on my XPS 9360 with i7-8550U, but I have not been successful sofar.
Installation went fine, but I am unable to get into the desktop with QHD enabled.

GPU details for the Intel UHD Graphics 620 are as follows:
Code:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Device [8086:5917] (rev 07) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
    Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:082a]
    Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 279
    Memory at db000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
    Memory at 90000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
    I/O ports at f000 [size=64]

From your config it looked like yours is having 8086:5916 as device id, while the i7-8550U has 8086:5917.
Can you confirm that?

You will need FakeID and changes to FakePCIID_Intel_HD_Graphics for the 5917 (not native).
