GTX970, GeForceSensor unknown chipset

For the solution to the initial question of the thread, the Slice branch of HWsensors has some progress on the support of the Maxwell chipsets. On my 970 I get temperature and frequency scaling as they should (incorrect frequencies in iStats menu but correct in HWmonitor).

http://sourceforge.net/projects/hwsensors3.hwsensors.p/files/?source=navbar

And the extract of my boot log:
16/02/2015 21:43:50,000 kernel[0]: GeForceSensors: GeforceSensors by kozlek (C) 2012
16/02/2015 21:43:50,000 kernel[0]: GeForceSensors: found 13c2 Nvidia chip
16/02/2015 21:43:50,000 kernel[0]: GeForceSensors (0): chipset: GM204 (NV124) bios: 84.04.2f.00
16/02/2015 21:43:50,000 kernel[0]: GeForceSensors (0): started

Also I couldn't boot until I removed the NVClockX.kext which I set as part of the installation. For now I have ACPIMonitor.kext, FakeSMC.kext, GeforceSensor.kext (checked the new nvidia card bow in the install), HWinfo.kext, IntelCPUMonitor.kext, ITEIT87x.kext.[/QUO

its not work. :banghead:

GraphicsSensor: PCI 5 Frozzen

And GerofceSensor.kext its broken

Hey swelly here is what i Did to get my 970 recognized as we have VERY similar hardware :)

first install your web drivers just as you did but after you do, Dont restart.

First go into finder and go to the folder /extra , then find the Chameleon.plist open it.

Make sure the following text is there if it is not ADD IT
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>kext-dev-mode=1 nvda_drv=1 GraphicsEnabler=No</string>

Hope this helps

P.S contact me if you got any other issues and if this does not work

OMG.... Thank you Thank you Thank you. I have literally been trying to get Yosemite to boot after Multibeast install now for almost exactly 24 hours. I have lost count of how many clean installs I have done since I started. Thank you Thank you Thank you once again! And my Hackintosh thanks you because otherwise it was going to taking flying lessons.

In case any other poor soul finds themselves in my shoes here is a quick summary of what I did:

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-GAMING 7
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 4GB
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz
RAM: x2 Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600
OS: OSX 10.10.5

Multibeast Settings:

Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC1150
Drivers > Disk > 3rd Party SATA
Drivers > Disk > TRIM Enabler > 10.10.x TRIM Patch (SSD ONLY)
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.14.1364
Drivers > Misc > USB 3.0 - Universal
Bootloaders > Chimera v4.0.1
Customize > Boot Options > 1080p Display Mode
Customize > Boot Options > Basic Boot Options
Customize > Boot Options > Hibernate Mode - Desktop
Customize > Boot Options > Kext Dev Mode
Customize > Boot Options > Verbose Boot

This short summary is cobbled together from many many sources.

  1. Physically remove one of the RAM's so that you only have 8GB (not sure if this is necessary but hey ho), you can install it later.
  2. Follow this guide up until Multibeast settings are successfully installed.
  3. Download the NVIDIA web drivers, at the time of writing, latest are available here
  4. Install the drivers, but as mentioned in a reply on this thread DO NOT RESTART UNTIL:

First go into finder and go to the folder /extra , then find the Chameleon.plist open it.

Make sure the following text is there if it is not ADD IT
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>kext-dev-mode=1 nvda_drv=1 GraphicsEnabler=No</string>

  1. Then restart your machine.
  2. As your machine is booting up again, access the BIOS and change the Initial Display Output from IGFX to PCIe 1 Slot. Save and exit.
  3. Shut down your machine and connect your HDMI to your GPU.
  4. Boot machine without any flags. All should be good.
