when i switched to macpro5,1 i keep getting a ram error pop up. how do i get rid of it?

Try not using MacPro 5,1 system definition. It seems that a lot of people have issues using that, try switching to 3,1 and see if that fixes the issue.

Have you double checked that the power supply molex connector is connected to the card? I have the same card and when I installed it without the power cord the fan was loud and going at full speed. Connected the power cord and it's quiet.
