yes its an adobe plugins... well u can install google chrome also instead. BUt if u want to use safari then install the latest adobe plugins and then u can browse ur videos without any hassle.

With Flash is it just the standard flash plugin from adobe ?

Yeah right off Adobe's site. It will know your on a Mac and you only have that one to download.
Lion and Mountain Lion do not come with Flash installed and you have to go get it to use it.

I have used chrome before but i find i get alot of Popups and dodgey things happening so i prefer to stay away from it.
