Grey screen - Please help!

I have a Radeon HD 6950, and just installed Native 6970 Package.pkg on my Snow Leopard 10.6.8 SSD. I'm now hanging at a grey screen with nothing on it. It was only displaying at 1024x768 before I ran the .pkg, and now it recognises and expands to the full 1920x1080 monitor, but doesn't go any further than this light grey screen. I think I know how to resolve the problem, but I need to get at my files!! How do I get past this???

Help me, Obi-Forum-Kenobi, you're my only hope!

HOLY MOLY, CHAPS. I just used another output on the graphics card, we have a fully functioning graphics card! THE RADEON HD 6950 2GB WORKS

OK, but it has largely NOT solved this issue - It is still coming up grey screen at maybe 5/6 startups. Any help, please? I am but a mere novice!

I wish I was as successful as you.. I have an XFX6950 and just get a 'Unsupported Card!' message before booting OS X (after install is completed). Only boots with iBoot. Will not run Lion Installer
