Hi:

Trying my first customac build. Finally got to the mac osx 10.6.8 update combo install.

then I get:
"3) I can't get 10.6.8 Combo update/Multibeast trick to work - update gets into very last phase - most likely replace the mach_kernel and then the multilanguage message about having to force a shutdown comes up. No chance to do multibeast."

I found that quote searching the forum. and that is my status. but I can't find a resolution to this on the forum.

Can someone point me to what I should do next.

just saw the similar thread from mjperry24. don't know how i missed that. I will tag along with that one and post any separate issues I have hear.

Well, issues already.

I checked the bios, still correct.

when I boot with iboot, it shows iboot and snow leopard. snow leopard starts to load then restarts the computer. iboot says "can't find mach_kernal"

when I try to reinstall my original snow leopard cd, it hangs:
Loading Operating System
............................_

It worked the first time. But now I can't get to disk utility or anything??

I don't know how to move forward from here.

After the iboot spinning cursor, I get an error message.
Ran it several times to be able to read it.

reading Ramdisk image: extra preboot.dmg
no ramdisk config
mounting: done

I tried to go into safe mode, but can't seem to find the right syntax.
the error about the mach_kernal maybe preventing that also.

does anyone have any ideas for me?

well, I am just wandering around in the dark.

I unplugged the hard drive and plugged it into my pc.
Still get the errors

ram error coming out of iboot spinner. (I actually was surprised to see that happen at all)
three selections now
iboot root snow leopard
iboot says mach_kernal error
snow leopard doesn't do anything of course
root boots to windows

I guess I will reformat drive in windows and see if I can reinstall everything on the customac then.

windows sees the iboot file on the disk and nothing else.
it sees the disk as a RW Cd with everything Read only.

thus it won't let me erase or reformat the drive.

I put the drive back in the customac, now i get a post error booting up and says there is no keyboard.

this is going from bad to worse.

why can't iboot find the mach_kernal? I am back to that.
How can I make that happen.

rboot Le won't load either as it can't find the mach_kernal

so I tried to install windows just to see.

it fails, says the disk is corrupted. probably the mac format

I guess I'll close this thread. Its going nowhere, as I don't know how to fix this.
