Hi guys,

Recently completed a wonderful build using this motherboard and a i7-8700k overclocked to 4.9 GHz. I managed to get literally everything to work and even created my own custom SSDT to patch 15 USB ports. I previously had issues where I was getting USB 2 speeds on the USB 3 ports using USBInjectAll.kext but after I created the SSDT-UIAC.aml patch, that was fixed too.

One problem that persists is that I cannot get the USB-c port on the back of the motherboard to work. When I connect a device, I get power (for example, an external USB-C hard drive will power up and the indicators begin flashing), but the device is not communicating with the motherboard (no mounting, and even disk utility does not recognize it's connected).

From what I understand the USBInjectAll/Custom SSDT fix applies for USB 2.0 and 3.0 via Intel Controller, but not via other devices. My USB-C port in my board is run via an ASMedia controller. I read in another forum that ASMedia USB-C ports should be natively recognized via MacOS, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone else had a similar experience or have any thoughts on that?

In fact, under System Report, I don't even see a USB 3.1 BUS (see attached System Report).

I'm sharing my EFI partition here for reference, including my SSDT. My config is listed in my signature as well my profile. I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable can shed some light on this issue for me.

SIP is enabled in your config.plist which prevents third party kexts from loading.
Change Rt Variables CsrActiveConfig from 0x00 to 0x67.

I have a Z390 Aorus Pro Wifi and both my front and back USB type C's work. Unfortunately my S9+ only connects via 2.0 speeds on the USB-C port, but I think that is all Samsung equipped it with. My memory card reader does connect at 3.0 speed on the C port. I don't have anything that is designed for 3.1 speeds though.

If you want to check out how my system is set up. Here is a link to my build log. Link here.

Hey @P1LGRIM yeah I did enable SIP but what Next would be controlling my ASMedia USB 3.1/C ports? I will try disabling it to see if my USB C ports come alive.

@psedog Great build. I do know that the Z390 boards seem to have better OOB USB 3.1 support so your fortune could reflect just having a better board.
