gigabyte h97m d3h and FireWire / IEEE 1394?

hi there,

is there chance to get [h=1]FireWire / IEEE 1394[/h]going with mavericks 10.9.4 gigabyte h97m d3h.

for instance i have the idea to connect it over the internal
F USB 2.0 contacts.

Could the board be damaged that way?
what else can i do?

I have 1394b working well on my rig but I am using a PCIe card. Have a look at my profile for the part number.
