Anyone out there using a GA-Z97X-UD3H with onboard HD 4600 graphics, can you tell me what the maximum screen resolution is out of the HDMI port with Yosemite/El Capitan? Still waiting for parts for my i7 4790k build, but want to use my NEC PA272W 2560x1440 display. I've read that some motherboards max out at 1920x1080 60hz, according to the Buyer's Guide. Trying to avoid buying a graphics card to keep power consumption down.

Gigabyte's website for your motherboard says:

1 x HDMI port, supporting a maximum resolution of 4096x2160@24Hz or 2560x1600@60Hz
* Support for HDMI 1.4a version.

Intel's specs page for HD Graphics 4600 says:
[TR="class: tech"] [TR="class: tech odd"] [TR="class: tech"] [TR="class: tech odd"]
Max Resolution (HDMI 1.4)‡ 3840x2160@24Hz
Max Resolution (DP)‡ 3840x2160@60Hz
Max Resolution (eDP - Integrated Flat Panel)‡ 3840x2160@60Hz
Max Resolution (VGA)‡ 1920x1200@60Hz

So you should have no problem getting 2560x1440@60Hz out of that (on HDMI or DisplayPort).

Yeah, I found posts about the Pixel Clock Patch found here:
https://github.com/Floris497/mac-pixel-clock-patch

And also that the GA-z97x-ud3h HDMI port supports higher than 1080p resolution.

Question is, how do I download the command file from that website? Do I copy and past the text into a TextEdit document and just save with .command extension? When I right click and save as downloaded file, it just creates like an HTML web archive file.
Thanks for any help!

Ok, thanks.
Ran the .command per instructions with Terminal, it prompted for password. Restarted computer and still running in 1080P without higher resolution options. Display settings treat my NEC PA272W as a connected TV.

I know this is a super old thread but I am building a smaller hackintosh for my wife from older parts and using this identical board with a 4690k. How would you ever get these reso's and refresh rates over DP when the motherboard doesn't even have a DP connection? The board only has VGA, DVI and HDMI. I'm trying to run a 3440x1440 display and can't get anything over 60hz because the board only has HDMI, is there another way?
