Comments

This is my first build and I am wondering if anyone can go over the parts I picked. I plan on dual booting both windows 7/8 (haven't decided) and Apple OS X Mavericks 10.9.3. I plan on using this for school (Computer Science Major) and for gaming. Just to make sure that they are compatible and that they should work. I was iffy on choosing the Samsung SSD because I watched some videos on Youtube and some people did not recommend them should I use a Samsung SSD or choose a different brand? Also I did spend some time looking into a ASUS motherboard with my setup but did not really find a definite answer. I am wary on using an ASUS because on this website they are not recommended at all. I do favor the look of a ASUS BIOS than that of a Gigabyte BIOS. Please leave your comments and recommendations.

I think I posted in the wrong place, sorry.
I moved this to Buying Advise. Please keep the original post "as is" or copy/paste the content from the editor to a text file as you have the beginning of a good build description!

The most critical components are the motherboard/processor combination and graphics card (or integrated graphics). It looks like you components will work well. However, you might want to spend a little more money and get an i5-4670K even if you don't overclock because the unlocked "K" processors have a better resale value (return on your investment. The Asus 9-series motherboards are starting to look like they'll be easier to install OS X, but, the 9-Series motherboard are too hard to get working for the 1st time hackintosh owner unless you're really up for a challenge.

As for you concern about the Samsung SSDs, they are listed in the tonymacx86 Buyer's Guide. Our moderators use them as well as the more expensive SanDisk Extreme series which are slightly faster if you're a serious gamer.

While you're looking at the Buyer's Guide, you can check out the rest of your components.

I decided to just stick with the Gigabyte motherboard and the Samsung SSDs listed but I will upgrade to the i5-4670K because I might overclock in the future when I understand it more.

Thanks!
