I'm not sure if this goes in the General support section or the install section, as it pertains to both, so I'll give it a shot here. Mods, move this if necessary.
I'm currently running Lion (10.7.5) on the Alternate Mac Mini 2011 build:
Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3 (F8)
2 x 4GB DDR3 1066 memory
1TB 3.5" SATA II HD
Intel Core i3 2105
MSI GeForce 210
Apex MI-008 Mini-ITX Case
I'm wanting to do a clean install of Mountain Lion, but have data I'd like to put back onto my HD after the install is complete (iTunes, Photos, Mail, etc.). With that, enter Time Machine or CCC.
What my concern is, is the steps to get the data back onto the drive after the OS install. Here is what I have so far:
1. Back up internal HD using Time Machine or CCC.
2. Clean install Mountain Lion.
3. Restore back data from external drive (saved by TM or CCC).
Sounds simple, right? But will data saved by TM in Lion be able to be restored in Mountain Lion? If not, would CCC be able to restore that? If so, is it really this simple?
While I've used Macs before, including my Mini, I'm more familiar with the old school System Software 7.x world before moving to Linux. So I'm coming from that world, which you're used to doing the work manually. So would this really be this easy?
