I managed to find a way to convert my boot drive to GPT from MBR without any data loss or needing to format anything. It was through AOMEI Partition Assistant. Everything indicates success. Everything on the Windows 8.1 side anyway. Since this conversion, I haven't been able to boot into Chimera and therefore, not OSX either. The only functioning option is Windows Boot Manager via UEFI. I have a G45-Z87 board that was successfully PMPatched. I should probably get another SSD so I can have one for Windows 8.1 and one for OSX, but until then, I've managed to dual boot both OSes on the same SSD with no issues (until now). I changed the partition table in order to prepare for the release of Yosemite.
I wonder now if Windows is going to throw a fit and mess itself up when the next big update comes around and it realizes that it's not on MBR anymore. Should I be worried about that? I have all system updates turn off until I manage to get that second SSD, so the couple can be fully divorced.
What should I do to get Chimera back up and running?
Thanks.
