i just recently updated to 10.8.5 and to install i just copied the GenericUSBXHCI.kext into the folder and it seemed to work fine. but i just installed a program and right after i got this error?
The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/GenericUSBXHCI.kext” was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update.
what does this mean? im afraid to shut my computer off because my thumb drive just broke so i wont be able to boot off of it.
so how should i make sure this is installed properly? originally i tried to install it with the kext utility but it didnt seem to be working so i ended up just dragging and dropping into the above directory. any help?
EDIT: i re downloaded the kext and utility. repaired my permissions ran the utility which actually worked this time, uninstalled the kext, then reinstalled it with kext utility. i think im good to go. correct me if im wrong?
