General GPU Device ID Spoofing / FakeID

When choosing a model to spoof/fakeID does it have to be a full match? For example, if I have a Pitcairn W5000 FirePro am I prevented from spoofing cos it has 768 shaders and the R9 M290X Mac Edition has 1024 shaders? I note people say spoof an R9 270 (Pitcairn OR Curacao) to an R9 270x (Curacao)

Will take advice what to spoof the W5000 to....

Of those Pitcairn cards, I would suggest spoofing the W5000 as a HD 7850 (Dev-ID 0x6819), as it was natively supported in macOS from Mountain Lion 10.8.3 up to the final release of Monterey.

If that doesn't work try the HD7870 GHz Edition (Dev-ID 0x6810).
