So you were able to install the OSX Snow Leopard and update it to 10.6.8 using the combo update file from Apple
You were able to create your Apple App store account ID - purchase Mountain Lion - download it - and then using the UNIBEAST program make a 8 GB USB thumb drive to boot from to install ML to your Snow Leopard .
If you could you may want to make a second disk partition in Snow Leo with Disk Utilities so you can install the ML to this new partition so that you keep the Snow Leo Partition for safe keeping /
Your Video card worked w Snow Leo - I am surprised!
But for Mountain Lion you will need the Kepler nVidia drivers in-order to get it to work this is part of the Mountain Lion Multibeast program and not part of the kexts included w the ML Unitbeast thumb drive .
So this is a problem -
Have you tried to boot from the USB and install ML w the following command switches
-x -v acpi=off PCIRootUID=1 GraphicsEnabler=No
-x = safe mode
-v = dump logger to display (no gray Apple screen) - if you get a KP take pic and post.
PCIRootUID=1 = tells where video is 0=internal 1= discrete
GE =yes/no turns on or off additional video support forces standard res 1034x768x32 if no
If your video card still has issues you may want to see if you can locate an older Nvidia GFX card - one of the 9xxx series ( 9400 -9500 - 9600 -9800 or 8400gs)
these work the best for initial installs - see if you can borrow one from and older computer and try it .
This would be the easiest way to install Mountain Lion. Then install the additional drivers from MultiBeast and download the nVidia drivers for Mountain Lion install then shutdown - then remove old GFX card and install your GFX card.
Then reboot to Mountain Lion.
