GA-Z77X-UD5H Marvell port question

Can I safely use the Marvel ports (2 in sata block, 1 on MB and 1 on rear panel connectors) on the GA-Z77X-UD5H for anything with 10.8.2?

By accident I have a raid array hooked to the one on rear panel, the Bios (F14) shows it connected, and it initially mounts and works fine, but will not hot swap(dismount, power off/on) without a reboot. I am getting another Rear sata/esata bracket (have 1 in play already) so I can move the raid to a Z77 sata port, but was wondering if I can move say the DVD Burner to a Marvell connector to save on Z77 ports..

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have had the Marvell ports enabled without any problems for a while now. There was a few sleep issues to start with, with this board if I remember correctly. Which was down to System definitions and bios settings not actually the ports and OSX 10.8.2.

If you are putting a DVD burner on there I can't see that doing a great deal of damage, it should work but if it doesn't you can just swap it back.

The other option could be to get an internal sata card.
