Actually I have been reading and looks like it is possible to downgrade to 10.8.5 and restore from 10.9 Time Machines backups.

Thanks for the comments back. I don't really want to go backwards.. I guess I will format my hard drive and do a fresh install this weekend. I just don't understand why this is happening though, I was rock solid for one year on 10.8. If anyone else has any guesses, I'm open to trying something before I start over. Thanks in advance.

Well you might want to hold off on that. I erased and did a fresh install. Then restored applications and user accounts. Had 2 lockups since the reformat down to 10.8.5.
