Hi all,

I know this has been covered but I've not been able to find a fix.

Previous motherboard had the ethernet port die so I replaced it with a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD5 - F6 firmware – 16GB RAM , i5 2500K (meagre overclock to 3.4GHz), GT740. Clover.

Install was relatively straightforward – installed using a GT640 (that seems to have native OS X support), then installed nvidia drivers for the GT740.

I have cpu stepping working, although Turbo won't kick in – I'll live with that for a spell.

Primary issue is waking from sleep.

Sleep works correctly, via auto sleep or sleep from menu bar.

Wake is not functioning.

Symptoms are:

• No screen on wake.

• no USB 2 on wake – keyboard and trackball are dead – no lights from keyboard/trackball etc...

• Can't log into machine remotely – screen sharing, ping etc...

Machine requires reboot.

I'm fairly insistent on requiring sleep/wake functions. On previous board (ga-h67ma-usb3-b3), sleep and wake worked a treat (same system – 10.11.6).

I'm tempted to try the UEFI BIOS I've seen floating around (not available from Gigabyte – seems ßeta). However, this would require further downtime to change to UEFI boot. I've not looked into this thoroughly.

I know this is an old board but it suits my needs. Anyone have any experience with this motherboard or options I could attempt?

Cheers,

Wake issues can be caused by Powermanagement or USB. Then again old hardware like yours has no Intel USB 3.0 controller which breaks sleep i.e 3rd party USB 3.0 Frisco, Reneses.

Yes, it is Reneses controller. Previous motherboard slept/woke perfectly (ga-h67ma-usb3-b3).

Thanks for the heads-up.

Anything after 10.10 USB 3 is broken on Series 6 Motherboards.

Right. Previous board wouldn't boot with USB3 instigated in BIOS. This board does (of course USB3 is not functional) – I will try with USB3 off on this board.

Some boards do and some boards don't. USB 3.0 will not work not supported with 10.11+. If you want USB 3.0 better to upgrade to a motherboard that has Intel USB 3.0 i.e Series 7.

Yep – the writing's on the wall. I should upgrade.

RehabMan recommended me a USB 3.0 PCI-E Card for my intel DH67BL build which works native. Its a card thats based on FL1100 which works native. The Inateck KTU3FR-5O2I you can find them on Amazon or eBay.

Oh I can live without USB3, it's wake from sleep I really need. I have audio gear that will switch off when the machine goes to sleep. Via a switching device and power conditioner. Otherwise I'm just chewing through scads of electricity. Like a good 2000 watts.
