I'm rippin' happy that Gordo's guide got me up and running... But, after my elation, 'About this mac' tells me I'm early 2008?!?!?!

Why is this? How is this stat determined?

I tried the 3,1 definition... It still repots my Mac is early 2008. Is there some definition I should remove before running MB?

The reason it's showing Early 2008, it's because you're using a MacPro 3,1 definition. That's when Apple released that model. -- it's not the year you built your hackintosh.

Does the sys def have any impact on performance? What's the diff between 3.1 and 5.1?

Some (most?) people report higher benchmark scores after switching to 3,1. Some setups don't work with anything other than 3,1.
