OK. I have a GA-Z170X-UD5 with the firmware that supports KabyLake, I have everything I need to build it except for the processor. I have tried to hold it as much as possible in hopes for an early spring release of a mac with kabylake but that seems like it's not going to happen in the next two weeks and the time to make the purchase has come.

I want to know your opinion on using a well known 100 series chip z170x and adding a KabyLake 7600K processor. What would be the glitches I would find? The video will be driven by a EVGA GTX 980Ti, so I think it doesn't matter if I can't use the built in graphics card. But I want to know the lan, audio, etc. What would be the advise, should I stick to a 6600K processor?
Thank you

Have a look at some reputable websites to get a feel of the difference between a 6700k and 7700K processor:

General advice is to stick with a matching processor and board combination rather than mixing different generations of the same socket type.
If you feel that there is a possible advantage for your requirements then it would seem sensible to consider a Sky Lake board and Kaby Lake processor. Most video editing will put more stress on the GPU rather than the processor itself for much of the time. There may be advantages to be gained with the extra clock speed of the newer processor particularly once overclocked and when using fast RAM.

Thank you for the links!!
It seems like kabylake might run a bit hot for not such a great performance increase..

I have the thunderbolt version of the board .

Is use a Kaby i5 and it working fine so far . Only sleep is the problem

Thanks for the heads up @Applementalist, how hard is it to make it work? I am new to this but I will most likely have help from someone with experience, but in case I don't want to have a lot of trouble. My last hackintosh was a Core2Quad so it has been a while ;) .
My setup includes the mentioned GA-Z170X-UD5, EVGA GTX 980Ti, Samsung EVO SSD and the dilema of 6700K vs 7700K. Do you think it would involve a lot of extra steps /troubleshooting to make the 7700K work? Any specific guides you would suggest for this combination of 100 series mobo + kabylake?
Thank you!!

No problem .

First thing you should do is to change the CPUID because OSX doesen't recognize Kaby CPU's yet .

After that you should create a SSDT and DSDT for your CPU and install all drivers with Multibeast .

I use also the Samsung Evo with no problems .

For your GTX 980 you will need the nvidia web drivers . My gtx66o ti is supported out of box.

I would take the 7700K . It costs the same .

Here is a guide for the changes
