I have a GA-X79-UD5 running a second fresh install of 10.8.2 with latest Multibeast. I used the ALC 898 No DSDT. No audio on the green port. I have it now to the point that the Output Devices appear in the SYS Pref, but no audio.

I keep reading and trying the suggestions in the "ML: Optimized AppleHDA for Realtek ALC8xx" thread but I just must be missing something and could use a little help. Here's what i have.

I've read so many threads and I'm not sure where to go from here. I know I'm overlooking something but for the life of me I can't figure it out. Please help!

Yeap I got that. Which says "3. Any X79 motherboard - no sound, see Interim Realtek Ivy Bridge Lion AppleHDA"

So then I tried the http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/55638-interim-realtek-ivy-bridge-lion-applehda.htm Realtek Ivy Bridge Lion AppleHDA, which for a NON-DSDT has me doing the following:

Installation
1. Non-DSDT Audio Enabler HDAEnabler.kext: MultiBeast 4.6.1/Audio/Realtek ALC8xxNNon-DSDT Enabler/ALC..
MultiBeast - Lion 4.6.1 installing the HDAEnabler898 http://www.tonymacx86.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=34
2. Backup S/L/E/AppleHDA.kext
3. Delete ALC8xxHDA, ALC8xx, HDAEnabler8xx and any other audio enablers from S/L/E
a, Note: Do not delete HDAEnabler8xx if there is no dsdt.
3. Copy AppleHDA.kext from Interim_Ivy_Bridge_Lion_AppleHDA folder in Downloads to Desktop
4. Run KextBeast
5. Restart

Still no Audio.

What S/L/E/HDAEnablers are installed?
Attach a copy of IOReg. [Guide] How to Make a Copy of IOReg

I did one last clean install making very sure of what I was doing. This time it worked with:

Installation
1. Non-DSDT Audio Enabler HDAEnabler.kext: MultiBeast 4.6.1/Audio/Realtek ALC8xxNNon-DSDT Enabler/ALC..
MultiBeast - Lion 4.6.1 installing the HDAEnabler898 http://www.tonymacx86.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=34
2. Backup S/L/E/AppleHDA.kext
3. Delete ALC8xxHDA, ALC8xx, HDAEnabler8xx and any other audio enablers from S/L/E
a, Note: Do not delete HDAEnabler8xx if there is no dsdt.
3. Copy AppleHDA.kext from Interim_Ivy_Bridge_Lion_AppleHDA folder in Downloads to Desktop
4. Run KextBeast
5. Restart

I HAVE SOUND!!! It varies up and down in volume a bit, but I have sound!

Should I be concerned about updating to 10.8.4?

My Rig:
GA-X79-UD5
E5-2650
GTX680
with 10.8.2
