Hi Folks,

here is my fully working hackint0sh:

specs:
Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H BIOS F11
Kingston 2x2 GB DDR-1333 Kit
Intel Core i3-540 (3,07 Ghz)
EVGA 8400 GS 512 MB DDR3

Installation:
Using iBoot 2.7 and Multibeast 3.4
Installing MacOS X following the instructions from tonymac.

Running Installation of 10.6.6 Combo Update

Multibeast settings:
- UserDSDT (<- downloaded from tonymac database)
- Repair Cache and Permissions
- Audio: ALC8xx + AppleHDA Rollback
- Disc: JMicron36x eSata
- Ethnernet: Lnx2Mac's
- FakeSMC + FakeSMC Plugins
- Bootloader Chameleon 2.0 RC5 Prereference
64-Bit Apple Boot Screen ( GraphicsEnabler=YES)
MacPro 3,1

After Multibeast and Comboupdate Audio, Network, Boot from HDD will work, but graphics will stuck to low resolution and no CI/QE. To activate use EFI Studio 1.1.

First:
Check your Device ID (EVGA 8400GS -> 10c3). Add the Device ID to NVDANV50Hal.kext in S/L/E. Then repair permissions and cache with Multibeast.
Now open EFI Studio, select the right Card (8400GS 512 MB). Select Add Card and choose "write to com.apple.boot.plist". EFI will copy the EFI String into L/E/SystemConfiguration. Copy the EFI String into the boot.plist in Extras.
Reboot and done. Everything works, even Energy mode.

Thanks to this forum, that let my build my HackMac :headbang:

Hi there,
I have a similar system, mine with a Gigabyte 8400GS 512mb.

I cannot get the graphics card above 1024x768.
I have followed your steps exactly, but get a black screen.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks,
Rob

@robertor

Are you using DVI or VGA cable for connecting your monitor ?
I'm using DVI only.

I also made the experience that it depends on the manufacturer of the card and not only on the chip (e.g. 8400 GS) whether the card is running or not.
The solutions for an Asus 8400 GS didn't work for me neither so i had to search for a solution exactly for my manufacturer (EVGA).

Try to search for Gigabyte in connection with the chipset 8400GS.

good luck !

@xell83

Thank you very much for your detailed instructions!

I have the exact same video card however when using the EFIStudio 1.1 the 8400GS 512Mb is not in the list! Do I somehow need to add it to the list?

Thanks for the instructions! Following them to the T so far.

Just got one question, where in the NVDANV50Hal.kext plist do I add the Device ID

For example, I used system profiler to get the device ID: 0x0de1

I see similar code that has:
0x00f010de&0xfff0fff

But I'm not sure if it goes beneath there or somewhere else or if I need to add additional text when I input it.

Thanks!

hey technologic!
a have the same doubt. What did you do?

did you add the "&0f..." text or did you just leave it like "0x042210de..."?

Thanks
