Front panel audio not working on Gigabyte z87x-d3h and Corsair 200R

I'm having trouble getting the front panel audio to work under OS X 10.9.2 on my Corsair 200R case. The rear audio outputs work fine. Is there a setting to enable front panel in the BIOS? I can't see it anywhere.

Has anybody managed to get this working with a similar setup?

No. Is front panel HD Audio connected to the motherboard? What happens in System Preferences/Sound/Output when you plug headphones into the front panel?
