Followed the guide, but not working. What's my next step?

This is my first hackintosh build, although I have installed SL in VirtualBox before (just to play around with it). I've bought supported hardware, in the hope of having a *somewhat* trouble free installation, but I still can't manage to get SL bootable from the HDD.

My system specs are as follows:

• GA-Z68M-D2H (updated to F5 BIOS)
  Core i5-2500K
  4GB Kingston DDR3 (In slot 1)
  Crucial M4 64GB SSD
  Apple MB110LL/A wired keyboard
  Cheapo USB mouse
  17" LCD connected to onboard HD3000 via VGA (I get no signal when I try to connect it to the DVI port with a DVI-VGA adapter)
  SATA mode changed to AHCI
  HPET set to 64bit
  Onboard video set to 480MB (?? I think??)

Here's what I've done so far, and the results (or rather lack or results):

Boot from iBoot
Change to SL 10.6.0 installation DVD
Run SL install DVD
Open Disk Utilities
Partition HDD (GUID/Mac OSX Extended (Journaled))
Install SL (successful)
Reboot
Boot from iBoot
Load from HDD
Setup SL
**Arrive at Desktop**
Insert USB
Copy DSDT (DSDT-GA-Z68M-D2H-F5.aml), multibeast 3.10.1 & updatehelper to desktop
Run Multibeast (select User DSDT only)
Run Update helper
Remove USB
Reboot
Boot from iBoot
Load from HDD
Insert USB
Mount 10.6.8 combo update (from USB)
Open multibeast
Open 10.6.8 combo update
Run 10.6.8 combo update (no reboot)
Run multibeast (DSDT only)
**Both Installers crash (reopen multibeast)**
Run multibeast (DSDT only)
Reboot
Boot from iBoot
Load from HDD **Stuck on blank grey screen**
Hard reset
Boot from HDD **Stuck on blank grey screen**
Hard reset
Boot from HDD (verbose)
**Last entry is "DRMOS has arrived", then blank black screen**
Hard reset
Boot from iBoot
Load HDD (verbose)
**20 or 30 "Kext refused because updated one already present" messages, last entry "Lnx2Mac Realtek 81XX", then blank black screen

I'll try variations now, but I'd appreciate any advice on where the problem may lie.

couple issues i can see.
the onboard graphics arent supported in sl, only lion.
cant use vga natively.

add a graphics card, and itll work.
or update to lion and use dvi

Thanks samisnake, switching to a DVI screen fixed most of the problems. It's still not perfect; the boot screen comes up and seems to work for a minute, but then the screen goes blank and the monitor switches off (as if there's no input). I have found though that pressing the power button once (putting the machine to sleep I think), and waiting for the machine to power down, then either pressing the power button again or tapping a key on the keyboard (waking it up?) gets me to the desktop. Once there everything works fine.

Thanks for your help. I'll take a day of rest then get to work on updating to Lion.
