Hi guys and thanks for a fantastic forum. I’m building my first Hackintosh (mainly for premiere pro editing) this august and would love your knowledgable input. Mainly this build is based on Stork’s MyHero Build with some updates trs96 posted in a different thread. If you guys think I’m missing anything or should go in a different direction please let me know.

Here’s my priorities and what I need:

1. Stability / compatability / Ease of use (My first Hackintosh so smooth installation would be great, also macOS sierra is needed).
2. Performance (40% premiere pro, 30% AE / Resolve, 10% other CC apps, 20% web/email and other).
3. Money (flexible budget but hopefully under 3000 USD excluding monitors).
4. Noise and design (not important at all).

Important info:
- Will be plugged in to my Thunderbolt 2 NAS so has to have working thunderbolt 2.
- Will be placed outside my studio so will connect displays and USB with booster cables. HDMI / Display cable?
- I will have one 4k monitor + 2 HD monitors connected (will that be an issue?).
- Will be connected via ethernet, wifi + bluetooth / webcam are not needed.

Parts List:

1. CASE: Corsair Carbide Air 540 Cube Case
2. CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K 4.00 GHz
3. Motherboard: ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO LGA 1151 DDR4 M.2 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 Type A Type C Intel Z170 ATX Motherboard
4. GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Windforce OC GV-N1080WF3OC-8GD Graphics Card
(Is this really the best graphics card for premiere pro? Also, how do I plug in multiple monitors?)
5. PSU: Corsair RMx Series, RM650x, 650W, Fully Modular Power Supply, 80+ Gold
6. SSD. 1 Samsung 960 Pro 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD (M.2 is for AHCI drive right? Should I get one for a windows installment, could I then buy a cheaper 850 EVO to keep the price down?)
7. RAM .Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 4x16GB (can’t find the tridentz series recommended by Stork in swedish store).
8. LIQUID COOLER: Corsair Hydro Series H100i v2 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

Buying this in Sweden comes in at 25.500 kr = 3.150 USD which is ok.

Do I need anything extra for ethernet / thunderbolt 2 connectivity?

My main concern is that I would like to use all my screens if possible + having the computer together with my Nas server outside the studio (for sound and heat issues). The cable length from the screens + keyboard / mouse would be roughly 10m (32 feet).

Appreciate all the help I can get.

Thanks for your reply, I've been reading up + looking around and will go for this build:

Intel Core i7-6700K Skylake Processor
Corsair Hydro Series H55
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Windforce
Gigabyte Z170-GAMING K3-EU
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB M.2 SSD
EVGA Power Supply 650W GOLD
Corsair Carbide 330R Blackout Edition
Apple thunderbolt 3 - thunderbolt 2 (apple store).

With the Gigabyte Z170 motherboard I shouldn't need an extra thunderbolt card + it will keep the costs down a little bit.

I followed the build guide in the video which was great but don't follow the os installation from the video, follow the instructions on this page. I could never get the os / firmware installation to work while following the video. However, when I started from scratch again, I went with the recommended settings for Sierra (installing it as iMac 14,2 with MultiBeast) and everything, including the graphics card has been working really well.

I use it for work 8-10 hours per day and the only issue is:
When I try to shut down it restarts, will fix it but haven't done it yet.

I haven't installed Thunderbolt 2 yet either but will do that later on.

Good luck.
