You're as nervous as a bunch of asterisks? j/k

If you want to make your life easier, consider a Gigabyte Z77 board. Asus boards aren't quite as compatible "out of the box". That being said, I went with Asus, but only because they don't make a Gigabyte that suits my needs. If you're going full ATX, there are a number of Gigabyte options for you.

Otherwise, everything seems compatible to me (and even the Asus would be MOSTLY compatible with a bit of extra effort).

Yeah, I've noticed that Gigabyte is the favorite. Can you point me to a gigabyte board that has onboard wifi? That's one future I really like! Otherwise I don't care.

Also, what does full ATX mean?

While there are a handful of boards with onboard wifi, I'm not aware of any that actually work "out of the box". Inevitably, the mini PCIe card has to be replaced with something compatible. So if you're doing that, why not just use a standard PCIe card? I would understand if you were looking at a small form factor motherboard that spare slots would be at a premium, but a full ATX motherboard has tons of space for that sort of thing. It doesn't look like you'll be using all your slots with the configuration you've posted so you've got room to spare.

Here's a popular board with onboard wifi and includes 2 Thunderbolt ports (which have confirmed to work for other users, though I haven't personally used this board).

Generally speaking, it's reported to be highly compatible, but I can't speak for the onboard wifi. Like I said, though, that can be replaced or you can use a standard PCIe card.

EDIT: I may have given conflicting info above. The wifi/bluetooth seem to be from a daughter board rather than onboard. There is an onboard slot, but it's for msata. Wther that will support an mPCIe card or not, I don't know.

Thanks!

What about geared towards my original price range, or something cheaper. I guess it's stupid to care about onboard wifi; honestly I was just lazy. Figured one less thing to install/purhcase. Gigabyte is fine.

I'm a first time builder and you're making me nervous just by saying that! :p

People tend to recommend the Sony Optiarc line of optical drives for compatibility reasons. I can't verify the compatibility of your selection, but that doesn't mean it won't work: I just don't know.

Since you're trying to stay on a budget, if you're not attached to the 8GB ram sticks you can save money with this:

There's also a little wiggle room if you shop around on your SSD selection.

Best of luck to you!
