Hi,

I'm almost ready to purchase components for my first hack and I am looking for some advice/direction. I've made some items bold to try and make them stand out for tl;dr.

EDIT: The use of the computer will be just day-to-day browsing, maybe some photoshop, devops, software dev, docker containers. 4k playback would be epic within Mac but I plan to dual boot windows 10 so not crucial.

Existing:
Asus m4aXXX evo USB 3 motherboard
1055t processor
corsair vengeance ram ddr3
ati 4890

New components
Motherboard: MSI Z170A PC MATE

GPU:
??????

Can anyone help me choose a GPU?

I am seeking to run Sierra or El Capitan if Sierra doesn't work.

I'm looking for the least amount of tinkering possible.

I need WIFI, don't care about bluetooth. I have a VGA monitor at the moment which will be exchanged soon, this is currently connected to my existing PC via a cable which exchanges to DVI at the desktop end. If the motherboard for instance doesn't support VGA, will this work with conversion cable?

I need the GPU to run dual monitors.

Audio either by SPDIF or 3.5mm jack.

USB 3 would be a bonus.

Look at the GTX 950 to run your two monitors. Works well with the Nvidia drivers and should have
long term support. You'll want all of your monitors to use DP, DVI or HDMI as VGA is not supported
by Apple since about 2010-2011. It's a digital world we live in today. VGA is analog.

My Gigabyte GTX 950 in my Gene system does drive four monitors - I got 4 (at once) monitors to work.

I would go with the GTX 950 or 960. With the new GPUs out you never you you can find those on sale or even a GTX 970. If you don't care about bluetooth then get a TP-Link N900 for WiFi. If you want Handoff and Continuity then you should get a MacBook Air Card with PCIe adaptor. My USB 3 ports work when I followed one of the guides. Unless your talking about USB 3.1 Gen2. Don't know if thats supported yet. Good Luck.
