First Hack, the parts I've Ordered- SL or Lion??

Intel Core i7-2600K Processor

GIGABYTE ATI Radeon HD6850 1GB DDR5 2DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card GV-R685OC-1GD

I bought this because it was on sale, Rosewill 630W power supply. It's compatible with i7.

My uncle was throwing out an old PC, so I took the case.


Any obvious problems?

Also what are the advantages or disadvantage of installing SL or LION? Seems a lot of people are still installing SL, so I'm curious.

Depends on what you want or like in either Lion or SL. Lion you can't use I believe powerpc apps no longer.

Parts are good to go.

I guess I'll have to run activity monitor for a few days and see if any of my apps a still PPC.

Tuesday is my graphics card day. The "last" piece of the puzzle.

Installed Lion 10.7.2. Needed some tweaks, DVI worked fine, HDMI didn't work. Waking from sleep disconnects all USB drives the BAD way.

Have you checked out powerpc's solutions for USB drives on wake from sleep?
