Hi,

This is my first build. It's a customac '12 build:

Gigabyte Z77 UD5H motherboard
Intel Quad-Core i5 3.4 Ghz
8GB Corsair memory
Seagate 1TB hard drive
no graphics card (onboard graphics)
Mountain Lion OS

After a struggle (had to type "-x" to complete the OS installation), I have Mountain Lion loaded. I ran Multi-Beast DSDT-FREE installation and I now have graphics (proper resolution of 1920 x 1200 on Apple Cinema 23" display) but no sound. Most puzzling is I cannot boot without Unibeast! The screen says:

boot0: GPT
boot0: test
boot0: test
boot0: GPT
boot0: test
boot0: test
boot0: error_

Here are my hard drive settings in BIOS:

Under System, SATA Port 0 is "enabled" (where my HDD is plugged in -- controlled by z77 chipset). All other ports "empty."

Under BIOS Features, Boot Option #1 is "P0" [followed by hard drive's name]
Boot NumLock State is "enabled."
Security Option is "system."
Full screen LOGO show is "enabled."
Limit CPUID Maximum is "disabled."
Execute Disable Bit is "enabled."
Intel Vitrualizaiton Technology is "Disabled."
CSM Support is "always."
Boot Mode Selection is "Legacy Only."
PXE Boot Option Control is "Disabled."
Storage Boot Option Control is "Legacy Only."
Display Boot Option Control is "Legacy Only."
Other PCI Device Rom Priority is "UEFI OpROM."

Any advice is greatly appreciated; this is my first build. Thanks!!

EDIT: My SATA mode selection is set to "AHCI"
xHCI Pre-Boot Driver is "Enabled."
xHCI Mode is "Auto."

Thank you!!

Its fast becoming a classic problem, use MacMans excellent guide to solve the Boot0 problem:

Is this the same motherboard that you are using?

Thank you baller 1308 and Adrian B!

Unfortunately the terminal command or the OSX86 program didn't work. It doesn't say "boot0" anymore; now it says:

Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key.

Could it be that my hard drive needs a jumper? I noticed four bare pins on the back of my HDD

Adrian B -- yes that's my same motherboard (almost same build, too!)

Thanks guys for helping me work through this!

Have a look at your UEFI bios and check the boot priority, pay particular attention to whether it is showing your boot SSD/HDD as PO and NOT UEFI.

There are two different revisions of the GA-Z77-UD5H motherboard. Do you know which one that you have?

Thanks Adrian B, I'm almost 100% sure I have rev. 1.1 because I have the F14 revision of the BIOS/UEFI for the ud5h board, which is the latest.

Boot priority used to be
1: P0 [HDD name]
2: UEFI [HDD name]

then I changed the settings to "legacy only" so now the boot priority only says
1: P0 [HDD name]

You guys think I should just reset the mobo, erase the drive, and start from scratch? Or try installing Mavericks? It's probably something simple but no matter what settings I try, I can't get it to boot on its own

I would try MacMans Boot0 guide again - if it isn't working try another installation on another Sata HDD or SSD if possible. Some HDDs are not capable of using anything other than their designated 4k sectors. 512mb emulation just does not work.

Edit: use the search facility for your audio problem - I think it might be quite common. If you need audio then I suggest a http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/98115-simple-plug-n-play-usb-audio-device-os-x.html

Solved!!!

SOLVED!!!

I did another fresh installation of ML, then ran the terminal command BEFORE attempting to boot ML on its own without Multibeast, and it worked this time!!

Thanks baller 1308 and Adrian B!!!!!!!! :D
