hello all!
I've been waiting for months now before ordering all the parts required for my first hackintosh build. I have a decent knowledge of computers for i have build two custom Win7 pc but using any super nerdy tech details will most likely flat out confuse me haha so please keep that in mind.

My main source of conflict is the CPU and PSU. Is worth it to buy an i7-2700k or an i5-2500k to save money. The main use of this machine would be for editing and a little bit of side gaming if that helps. I have not chosen a PSU simply because I have not a clue on how to calculate how many Watts this thing will need. Please recommend!!!

Also what do you think of the monitor, recommend anything different?
Thanks!!!!!

I think the i5 would be enough for you. I would recommend you a psu with about 500 watts for your system.

ok thanks and does everything seem compatible for OSX?

Are you going with an aftermarket CPU cooler?

I'd go with the Vertex 3 over the Agility. Same price but the Vertex 3 performs better. Alternatively, the Crucial M4 is on sale right now, which can be price matched at a local Staples I believe (can give more details if interested).

I would not recommend 500w for your system. I believe the minimum recommended PSU for the 570 is 550w. If you want some headroom, I'd go with anything from 600-700w. You can go with 550w, but if you decide to overclock, add more HDDs, etc. you will be slowly approaching your limit. Don't skimp on the PSU, that's my advice.

IMO, the i7 isn't worth it for a lot of people unless you can get a good deal on it.

You're build looks very similar to mine (it's on the first two pages somewhere on this board, haha). I was either going to get the 570 graphics card you are getting or the SuperClocked one - on NewEgg, even though both are the same price, there is now a $15 promo sale off the SuperClocked one (so the total is $245 after rebates and promos and free shipping). Opposed to the model you are getting which comes to $260 after rebates and free shipping.

I would take a look if you haven't committed buying one yet!

When you build, tell me how the 570 works. I am not buying mine for a bit, but I am curious on how the build goes. Good luck!

wow cool thanks for the info, ill make sure to let you know how everything goes
