my budget for this build is around £900 so bare that in mind

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.5ghz quad core (8threads) - £226.91

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H - £159.95

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti - £193.28

RAM - Corsair Vengeance 4x4gb (16gb) @ 1600mhz - £82.99

Case - Corsair Obsidian 550D - £116.97

CPU Cooler - Corsair H100 Water Cooler - £84.37

CD Drive - just a samsung rw @ £15

total cost including software £877

other things like psu etc i have already purchased
and if interested i have a 750W PSU
60gb OCZ Agility SSD and a 500gb Samsung HDD

does this look like a fairly powerful build?
is it all compatible?
will the ivy bridge work on this motherboard etc
any incidence of bottlenecks or overkill?

thanks guys :D

The only concern I have is that the CPU might not work with the board without a BIOS flash, so unless you have a Sandy Bridge chip around, you could potentially run into some problems.

specifically, the board needs to be at Bios F12 which is the first bios for this board to support the 3rd generation Intel chips. F12 is the latest Award bios released by Gigabyte for the board - so possibility exists of getting one with earlier Bios.

If you are set on using this combination maybe a question to gigabyte support might clarify whether its possible to update the Bios to F12 from an earlier version when a 3rd Gen processor is already installed.

so you recommend to get intouch with gigabyte? any other motherboards that will be 100% ok for ivy bridge?

what about the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H? will that be ok?
