File Vault - what do I have to do to make it work

Hi everyone, need help. Can you tell me please how to activate File Vault on BigSur, do I need some special kexts or anything ? I remember last time when I turned this encryption on in Catalina system did not boot and just wonder if there is the same problem in Big Sur.
What do I have to do to make it work.
I have system on Open Core, NVME M.2, APFS partition.

If you already have macOS booting under OpenCore without any boot errors then you should read the Dortania Post Install FileVault section and apply whatever additional settings that are applicable for your Hack. After that then you should be able to enable FileVault on your boot drive in macOS.

I would probably air on the side of caution though and perform an unencrypted backup firstly. Defeats the object I know but if anything goes wrong then you've not lost your data for good.
