Ever get one that didn't spin up ? Looks super easy and good to know you don't destroy the enclosure when removing the drive.
I have not. But I’ve put them into external enclosures, so I don’t think the power is an issue. Maybe if direct into the computer it is more common. Simple fis though if you do run across it.

This could be a drive with the infamous "3.3V power disable" feature: These drives do NOT spin is 3.3V is provided on a certain pin. The behaviour is in accordance with the latest SATA specification, but many consumer power supplies just ignore it and feed power on all pins…
Try powering the drive from an old-style 4-pin Molex connector with an adaptor (4-pin provides only 12V and 5V rails), or from a USB adaptor, before declaring the drive dead on arrival.
