Hi,

I am after building a new hackintosh, kind of anyway. I was unable to get unibeast method working, so I decided to try out the method in this video which included extra lion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E68QVFq ... r_embedded

Everything worked for me til I got to the part where you install extra lion on the usb. I get to the section where it says 'writing packages' and nothing at all happens. This seems to have happened to a few people, but I haven't read any solutions.

Has anyone here come across this before?

Why didn't UniBeast work ?

/private/tmp/UniBeast 1.0.0.pkg.376azgrly/scripts.MOhN/./preinstall[554]: cp: symlink: /BinaryCache/MeCab/MeCab-187.2~5/Root/usr/lib/libmecab.1.0.0.dylib: File exists

/private/tmp/UniBeast 1.0.0.pkg.376azgrly/scripts.MOhN/./preinstall[554]: cp: cannot overwrite directory /Volumes/Unibeast/var with non-directory /Volumes/Mac OS X Base System//var

Whatever that means? But I have tried it loads and loads of different times on different computers with no success

Can you please try formatting the USB again - delete the existing partition(s).

You want 1 partition - Mac Extended (Journaled) with a Master Boot Record partition scheme

Hey Notshy, I have tried doing that several times but no luck. Does that error that I posted mean anything to you? Is it what you'd expect from a non partitioned usb?

I'm after doing at again, and it is running at the minute, but I dont have high expectations! One thing worth noting though is that when I go into unibeast and choose the install location, under the usb it says 7.5Gb total, 7.4Gb available. Is that just a rounding error? Would that be causing it? Thanks

No luck. here's the log, can't figure it out.

Hi,

So I ran Chameleon and Extra lion on the usb after restoring basesystem.dmg. I still got the stalling of the installer when it got to writing packages, but after looking at the log, it appears that I was getting no error messages, so I just forced the installer closed hoping that it had done it's thing. I did all the necessary steps and plugged the usb into the computer. The computer recognised the usb, and I went on and pressed enter. Loads and loads of commands came up, and the screen then went blank. Then it loaded to where I was before pressing enter. It was a loop. Does anyone have any experience with this? The lines of text go by too quickly to read.

One thing also worth noting is that when I restored the basesystem.dmg, the name of the usb didnt change. Is that the problem?

Thanks
