Expose is choppy, then smooth

Whenever I use expose the animation is very choppy the first time, then all subsequent times I use it it is very smooth. If I wait a minute or so then use it again, it becomes choppy again.

I am using the DSDT acceleration method and I have an Nvidia GTS 250. Any ideas?
